Taking Steps to Fight Cancer
The Rancho Sahuarita Cancer Walk is a 5K Run/Walk and Fundraiser to benefit the National Brain Tumor Society.
To date, through both Rancho Sahuarita Cancer Walk and other efforts, more than $1 million has been raised to fund critical brain cancer research.
Bob’s incredible vision and dedication to enhance the lives of others did not end at the development of Rancho Sahuarita. Upon his diagnosis in March of 2015, he was told he had only 15 months to live. As a natural response, Bob turned those 15 months into more than four years with a heroic battle for a life well lived; reserving the same tenacity, persistence, and determination that made Rancho Sahuarita possible. Bob resolved to live out the remainder of his life in pursuit of continued positivity, making it his personal mission to raise money and awareness for brain cancer research.
Through his efforts, Bob successfully helped to raise over one million dollars to benefit the National Brain Tumor Society (NBTS). In partnership with NBTS, the Sharpe Brain Cancer Research Awards have funded top institutions throughout the county in their efforts towards finding a cure. This research is part of a crucial effort to provide better treatments for individuals with brain cancer that can quickly move to clinical trial phases.
Jeremy Sharpe, son of Founder, Bob Sharpe, and current Chief Operating Officer for Rancho Sahuarita, shared “The fight against cancer is something that is very personal for many, and something that touches each of us in one way or another. If we are able to come together as a community and take even the smallest step towards finding a cure, we are making a giant impact on changing, and hopefully saving, lives.”

A Look Back: 2019 Rancho Sahuarita Cancer Walk
Thank you to the hundreds of donors and participants who made our inaugural 2019 Cancer Walk an unprecedented success!
In March of 2019, Rancho Sahuarita held its 2nd “Rancho Sahuarita Cancer Walk” 5K Run/Walk & Fundraiser to benefit the National Brain Tumor Society.
More than 650 people participated in the walk, and thanks to the generosity of donors and participants, about $250,000 was raised to benefit the Sharpe/NBTS Brain Cancer Research Awards.
The 2019 event was made possible by its generous sponsors. Northwest Healthcare served as the presenting sponsor for the 2019 event. Other 2019 sponsors included Fidelity Investments, Alliance Bank, GEO Advertising and Marketing, Territorial Sign Company, Quarles & Brady LLC., and United Community Health Center. iHeartMedia also served as the media sponsor for the event.
